Al-Mayadin: Talks between Tehran and Riyadh have been temporarily suspended.
Arab media reported the temporary suspension of talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
While Baghdad had previously announced that a fifth round of talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia would be held in Baghdad next Wednesday, some media sources reported a temporary suspension of the talks.
Al-Mayadin news website reported in a breaking news item that Tehran had unilaterally suspended the talks unilaterally.
The Saberin News Telegram Channel, the website of Al-Jazeera, Al-Ma’loumeh, etc., also announced in an immediate news item that Tehran had unilaterally suspended the talks.
Al-Mayadin attributed Tehran’s decision to the execution of Yemenis in Saudi Arabia. According to the Arab media, Saudi Arabia executed 81 people yesterday, of which 41 were Qatif Shiites. According to parties, Yemeni political officials and religious leaders, seven of those executed were Yemeni.
Meanwhile, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan had announced a few days before the fifth round of talks with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Al-Jazeera quoted bin Farhan as saying that Saudi Arabia was waiting for the fifth round of talks with Iran, “although so far no fundamental progress has been made [in the negotiation process].”
Without mentioning Riyadh’s unwillingness to take practical steps to reach an agreement with Tehran, he expressed hope that “Iran has a serious desire to find a new way of working [to reach an agreement].”
The Saudi foreign minister, whose country is still at war with the Yemeni people, said Riyadh would continue to support the resigned Yemeni government and try to persuade the Ansar al-Islam movement for a ceasefire.
