Afghanistan tops the list of terrorist attacks in the world.
In 2021, the Institute for Economics and World Peace said in a new report that Afghanistan will see 20 percent of deaths from terrorist attacks worldwide in 2021, Tolo News reported Monday night.
Afghanistan had the highest number of deaths from terrorist attacks in the world in 2021, with 1,426 deaths, the report said.
According to the report, Afghanistan witnessed 837 terrorist incidents last year, in which 1,426 people were killed and 2,199 others were injured.
The Institute for World Economy and Peace also reported that more than half of those killed in Afghanistan were civilians.
A deadly explosion near Kabul airport in the last days of the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, in which more than 180 people were killed and nearly 200 others wounded, is known as one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in 2021.
With the rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan and the formation of an interim government, the group has announced that Afghanistan will no longer witness terrorist attacks and the killing of civilians.
Abdul Ghaffar Kamyab, a political analyst close to the Taliban, said: “Security in Afghanistan is getting better every day and any terrorist group that wants to cause trouble to the Afghan people will not be able to control it.”
