Pakistan’s national airline PIA plans to operate direct flights to Sydney. In this regard, Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan said that two weekly flights would be operated between Lahore and Sydney and later Islamabad would be included in these cities.
According to details, Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan said that the national airline Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is planning to start direct flights to Australia. Initially, two weekly flights would be operated between Karachi, Lahore and Sydney and later Islamabad would be included in these cities.
He said that at present there is no direct flight between Pakistan and Australia and the journey between the two countries takes about 35 hours due to stopping at different places. He said that the national airline Has resumed flights to Malaysia and Iraq, as well as to the capital Damascus, while from next month we plan to resume direct flights from Karachi and Lahore to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
PIA will add more locations to its flight operations network and add four Nerobody aircraft to its fleet in March on dry lease to enhance flight operations. We plan to gradually increase the PIA fleet from the existing 29 aircraft to 49 aircraft by 2026. The fleet will consist of 16 wide body, 27 Nero body and 6 turbo propeller aircraft.
On the other hand, sources said that PIA would operate flights from Karachi and Lahore to Australia in the last week of March. Boeing 777 long range aircraft will be used for two weekly flights from PIA Karachi and Lahore. A PIA spokesman told private TV channel ARY News that the agency had submitted an application to the Australian Aviation Authority for permission to land the aircraft. The spokesman added that PIA would resume its operation as soon as it received permission from the Australian Aviation Authority.
