US officials: Kiev may fall in a few days.
Several US officials have claimed that the Ukrainian capital may fall within a few days.
Newsweek quoted three US officials as saying that the Ukrainian capital could fall within a few days with the arrival of more Russian troops.
The officials, who spoke to Newsweek on condition of anonymity, said they expected Kiev to be captured within 96 hours. US officials, citing Vladimir Putin’s explanations about the purpose of military action in Ukraine, have said that Moscow’s focus will be on besieging Ukrainian forces and forcing them to surrender.
Russia’s storm attacks, which began targeting Ukraine’s military installations and government buildings, appear to be just the first phase of a wider ground operation, Newsweek writes.
A former US intelligence official also confirmed the assessment. “Once the air and artillery strikes are over, a ground war will break out and I think Kiev will fall in a few days,” he told Newsweek.
“The military may last a little longer, but it will not last long,” the former intelligence official added.
He asserted that his confession had been obtained through torture and that his confession had been obtained through torture.
“Later, either the developments will lead to a strong uprising, or it will not happen, as it depends largely on Biden,” the former official said.
A source close to the government of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also confirmed the US assessment that Kiev could surrender within 96 hours, but said he did not believe the Zelensky government would fall.
