Box has been discovered containing important White House documents and gifts from Trump Resort.
The former president illegally removed some important government documents and correspondence from the White House and transferred them to his private mansion in the state of Florida.
Former United States President Donald Trump illegally removed several boxes containing important documents and other items from the White House and transferred them to the Mar-e-Lago mansion in Pampicha, Florida.
The Washington Post reported today (Tuesday, February 7) that the US National Archives and Archives had succeeded in retrieving the documents from Trump last month. Trump was required by law to hand over the boxes to the National Archives, but refused to do so.
The American newspaper wrote that the event raises concerns about the extent to which Donald Trump adheres to the “Presidential Document Law”. The law requires the Office of National Archives and Records to keep all notes, letters, writings, emails and other written communications of a President.
Among the documents Trump ousted from the White House are his correspondence with the North Korean leader, which he once referred to as “love letters.”
Trump advisers have claimed that they did not intend to remove the documents because the boxes contained notes and gifts from world leaders. Among the things Trump ousted from the White House was his correspondence with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, whom he once referred to as “love letters.”
Informed sources told the Washington Post that consultations between Trump’s lawyers and representatives of the National Archives last year led to the delivery of the documents. However, Trump is said to have broken the rules of custody of these documents and in some cases tore official documents. Some of the damaged documents are the same ones that were handed over to the Committee of Inquiry into the January 6, 2021 attack on the US Capitol.
The Washington Post writes that although previous US administrations have sometimes violated the “Presidential Documents Act” by taking steps such as using unofficial emails and telephone calls or destroying e-mail correspondence documents, Trump’s move to transfer the documents was unprecedented.
