Al-Amiri: Iraqi political forces should prioritize the interests of the nation.
The head of the Al-Fatah coalition and one of the commanders of the Iraqi Al-Hashd Al-Shabi stressed that the stubbornness of some political groups in forming the next government of this country is to the detriment of the Iraqi people.
Al-Fatah Coalition leader Hadi al-Amiri warned on Friday that the political situation was deteriorating and called on all political forces to end their stubbornness and put the interests of the people before personal interests.
According to the Mawazin News website, al-Amiri stressed the importance of consensus on the next Iraqi prime minister, saying: “If this is not possible, we will close the door and the only losers will be the Iraqi people.”
Al-Amiri called on all political groups to end their stubbornness, to put the interests of the Iraqi people first, and to put aside their private interests.
The head of the Al-Fatah coalition emphasized: I have accepted and signed the government of the national majority. But [such a government] must include opponents and supporters.
He added: “Some Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds should be informed by the supporters (of the government) and some of them should be in opposition, but the removal of a particular Shiite party (from the political process) is never to our satisfaction. And this is not called the formation of a national majority government at all.
Iraqi political groups have been consulting in recent weeks on how to form a cabinet and form a majority faction in the Iraqi parliament.
Last Wednesday, after holding a meeting, the Iraqi Shiite Coordination Framework Organization, while stating that it is not against the principle of majority, emphasized the two important principles of participation and opposition to the elimination of various political currents in the formation of the future government.
However, the tweet of Muqtada al-Sadr, the leader of the Sadr faction in Iraq, this Friday evening shows his insistence on his position on the formation of the Iraqi cabinet.
Al-Sadr said: the nation and the homeland are the red line. We still want to form a national majority government with our patriotic partners.
