What were the provisions of the proposal of the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf to Lebanon?
A Lebanese newspaper in a report examined the proposal of the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf to Lebanon; The plan is conditional and was recently handed over to Lebanese officials by the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister.
Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Ahmed Nasser Al-Muhammad Al-Sabah arrived in Lebanon on Saturday and met with various Lebanese officials.
During the trip, which he said was coordinated with GCC member states, he presented a plan to rebuild trust between the two countries and Lebanon.
Al-Akhbar newspaper wrote in a report that a copy of this conditional plan has reached 12 clauses and it is stated that filling the gap created in the relations between the Persian Gulf countries and Lebanon and building trust requires the following measures:
1. Lebanon adheres to all requirements of the Taif Summit (Saudi Taif Summit to end the Lebanese Civil War in 1989)
2. Lebanon’s commitment to all international resolutions and the Arab League
3- Emphasizing the civility of the Lebanese government according to the text of the Lebanese constitution.
4. The policy of neutrality must be in speech and action
5. Determining the time frame for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1559 (2004) on the disarmament of “militants” in Lebanon. In addition, the resolution on the protection of Lebanese sovereignty and political independence and the full ratification of the Lebanese National Dialogue, as well as Resolution 1701 (2006) on Hezbollah weapons and southern Lebanon based on the principle of state control over weapons outside the Lebanese government.
6. Stop Hezbollah’s interference in the affairs of the Gulf countries (Persian Gulf) in particular and Arab affairs in general, and the commitment that any Lebanese side that took hostile action against the GCC countries be prosecuted.
7. Stop all activities of opposition groups in the Persian Gulf countries and prosecute anyone who encourages or participates in violence against the countries of the Council, whether Lebanese citizens or individuals residing in Lebanon.
8- Commitment to hold parliamentary elections in May 2022 and then presidential elections in October 2022 according to the set dates.
