The Saudi Ministry of Defense announced that the military exercises of the Saudi forces with the Egyptian and Jordanian forces started separately on Sunday.
According to the Saudi Ministry of Defense, the “Al-Shatt Al-Aman-5” exercise of the Eastern Fleet in Al-Jubail began with the participation of Saudi and Jordanian naval units.
The Saudi news agency (WAS) quoted Brigadier General Ali bin Saeed Al-Shehri, commander of the forces participating in the exercise, as saying that the purpose of the exercise was to increase the level of readiness and combat capability of the units participating in the exercise.
He added that the other purpose of the exercises is to strengthen Saudi-Jordanian military cooperation, especially in the field of exchange of experience in the field of combat.
Al-Shehri also said that the exercises were planned to be carried out professionally.
Colonel Khalid bin Mohammed al-Balawi, director of the exercise, also said the exercise was part of an integrated strategy to strengthen military co-operation between the Saudi and Jordanian armies.
On the other hand, the Egyptian army announced in a statement that joint military exercises with the Saudi army have begun for several days.
The exercise began with the deployment of infantry, armor, paratroopers and support forces, the statement said.
The joint statement called “Tabuk 5” is one of the largest joint exercises of the two countries in terms of the number of troops and the variety of training activities, and the purpose of these exercises is to emphasize the depth of relations and military cooperation and expand cooperation between military forces. Egypt and Saudi Arabia aim to coordinate efforts to meet common challenges in the region.
