The head of the Palestinian Authority met with the Israeli Minister of War at the residence of the Zionist regime in occupied Palestine.
The Israeli media reported on Wednesday morning that Mahmoud Abbas, the head of the Palestinian Authority, had met with the Israeli Minister of War, Bani Gantz.
Israeli army radio reported that Abbas had visited a Zionist official’s residence for the first time in 10 years, and that Gantz had hosted him in the Rosh Ha’in area on Tuesday evening.
“The last time Abu Mazen visited [occupied Palestine] was in 2010 as part of a formal political meeting with [Benjamin] Netanyahu at his official residence in occupied Jerusalem,” the Hebrew-language website Walla News reported.
According to the report, Abbas’s meeting with Gantz lasted about two and a half hours, and the two sides discussed various security and civil issues on the agenda. This is the second time the two have met since the formation of Tel Aviv’s new cabinet.
According to Vallanews, the meeting was attended by Major General Rasan Alian, coordinator of operations in the Occupied Territories, and Hussein al-Sheikh, Minister of Civil Affairs of the Palestinian Authority, and Majid Faraj, head of the Palestinian Security Agency.
A senior Zionist official says the meeting was given the green light by the regime’s prime minister to discuss economic and security issues.
“Gantz informed Abbas that he intends to continue to promote confidence-building measures in the economic and civilian spheres, as agreed at their previous meeting,” the report said. “Ganz stressed the common interest in strengthening security coordination and maintaining security stability and preventing terrorism and violence.”
The meeting took place at a time when various parts of the West Bank have been the scene of Palestinian protests in recent days against the ongoing attacks by Zionist settlers and the widespread destruction of their property in the area. Simultaneously with the mobilization of dozens of Barqa youths to support the residents of this town against the attack of the Zionist settlers, the occupying forces are widely stationed at the entrance of Barqa town.
