Pakistan’s health sector may be under significant pressure due to the rising number of new variants of Corona virus, Omicron. This was stated in a report titled ‘Code Nineteen Response and Relief Governance Monitoring’ prepared and published by Election Network (FAFEN).
Fafen collected data from 64 districts in the four provinces from October 1 to December 15, 2021 to prepare a report on the corona virus, based on interviews with independent observers stationed in the districts, including key stakeholders.
Observing the government’s response and the public’s attitude, the network repeatedly stressed the need to focus on health sector priorities to deal with the corona virus.
The health system is still under pressure as 48,906 cases of dengue and 183 deaths were reported between January and September.
The report called on the government to adopt a comprehensive strategy to control the situation so that the population could be protected from the dangers of the Omicron variant.
The report says that there is still work to be done in the process of vaccination, a large number of citizens have not yet been vaccinated, Omicron and other variants can be avoided only by vaccination.
The report highlighted the challenges faced in the vaccination process and said that the vaccination process needs to be extended to remote areas of the country.
Misinformation and rumors circulating among health department staff and the public have slowed the vaccine campaign, the report said.
He said that the government should launch a massive campaign to eradicate misinformation and rumors and provide accurate information to the health department staff and the public.

On November 29, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Health Dr. Faisal Sultan and Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar held a press conference in which they appealed to the citizens to get full dose of corona virus vaccine and announced precautionary measures.
