On the eve of the liberation of Marib; The aggressors in Yemen called for an immediate ceasefire.
Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United States and the United Kingdom called for an immediate ceasefire in Ma’rib province as media reports began to count down to the full liberation of Ma’rib.
Saudi media, this afternoon (Thursday), reported that Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United States and the United Kingdom have issued joint statements regarding Yemen.
According to the Saudi newspaper Okaz, the ambassadors of Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, London and the US Chargé d’Affaires in Yemen met on Tuesday and issued the statement today.
The statement, issued at the same time as news media reports about the imminent complete liberation of Ma’rib province, said the four countries were concerned about the dire humanitarian situation in Yemen.
In the final part of the statement, the ambassadors of the mentioned countries “expressed their deep concern over the continuous attacks of the Houthis on Ma’rib” and at the same time, “stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire”.
Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Washington and London have all called for an immediate ceasefire, especially given the large number of Yemeni refugees displaced by the conflict.
The claim comes as the statement made no mention of the Saudi coalition’s attacks on various parts of Yemen yesterday; The attacks, in which a number of Yemeni citizens, including several children, were martyred and injured.
Saudi Arabia, at the head of an Arab coalition backed by the United States, has launched a military aggression against Yemen and imposed a land, air and sea blockade on April 26, 2015, claiming that it was trying to bring the resigned Yemeni president back to power.
The military aggression did not achieve any of the goals of the Saudi coalition and was only accompanied by the killing and wounding of tens of thousands of Yemenis, the displacement of millions, the destruction of the country’s infrastructure and the spread of famine and infectious diseases.
