Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated the trial operations of the Green Line project. Federal Minister Asad Umar, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and others were also present on the occasion. The Green Line Bus project was announced by the PML-N federal government in July 2014.
Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in Karachi today to inaugurate the trial operations of the Green Line project. Federal Minister Asad Umar, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and others accompanied the Prime Minister on the occasion.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Imran Khan visited the Green Line station and inspected the buses while he was briefed by the officials about the project. Yesterday, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar held a joint press conference. He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan would inaugurate the trial operations of the Green Line project and the project would be launched on commercial basis from December 25.
On the other hand, PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal, former Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair and former Finance Minister Muftah Ismail had inaugurated the Green Line project a day before Prime Minister Imran Khan. There was also a scuffle between the workers and the security personnel and on this occasion PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal was also injured by a stick in his hand.
The Green Line Bus project was announced by the PML-N federal government in July 2014 and the foundation stone of the 17.8 km long track from Surjani to Gurmundar was laid on February 26, 2016. The claim was that the project should be completed within a year. But the promise made by the former federal government after 5 years and 9 months is now coming true and Prime Minister Imran Khan is arriving in Karachi to inaugurate the first BRT project Green Line.
The project will operate 22 bus stations and 80 buses for passengers while each bus will have a capacity of 200 to 250 people and the fare will be between Rs. 20 to Rs. All the details of bus movement at the stations will be available on the digital screen.
The bus has a complete system from USB ports to wheelchairs, while in the second phase of the same project, buses will run to the tower. Under the Green Line Bus project at Gurmundar Exhibition Chowrangi, a two-storey underpass is being constructed on the ground floor and below, where not only international style buses will run but also accommodation will be provided.
A modern control room has also been set up for the Green Line bus project where passengers and buses will be monitored with the help of 900 cameras. Trial operations will be inaugurated today but it will be open to the public from December 25. Will be opened
