Finance Advisor Shaukat Tareen’s nomination papers were challenged in the Election Tribunal. He had filed nomination papers for the vacant Senate seat from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to details, Awami National Party (ANP) candidate Amirzada challenged the nomination papers in the election tribunal. Awami National Party candidate Amirzada has filed a petition challenging the Returning Officer’s decision stating that Shaukat Tareen is not a resident of Mardan and is not registered in the electoral roll. The roll is also not certified.
The petition said that if not the voters of Shaukat Tareen Mardan then how can they contest the election from this constituency for the Senate seat therefore the decision of the Returning Officer to accept the nomination papers of Shaukat Tareen should be declared null and void. Justice had issued a Senate ticket to Finance Advisor Shaukat Tareen. PTI Secretary General Amir Kayani issued the ticket after signing.
Shaukat Tareen will contest Senate elections from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on PTI ticket. The Finance Adviser will submit his nomination papers tomorrow. Shaukat Tareen will be sworn in as Federal Minister again after being elected as Senator. Polling will be held on December 20.
It may be recalled that the Election Commission of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced the election schedule for the vacant seat due to the resignation of Senator Muhammad Ayub. Polling for the vacant Senate seat will be held on December 20.
