Erdogan’s assassination plot thwarted.
Turkish news sources reported that a bomb had been planted at the site of a presidential speech in southern Turkey.
Turkish state media reported that a bomb was found today at the site of a speech by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the south of the country.
The bomb was reportedly planted under a police car and was remotely controlled.
The news comes as the situation in Turkey has been tense in recent days due to the economic crisis caused by the fall in the value of the national currency.
Lear has lost 44% of its value against the dollar in the past year, and Erdogan has changed the central bank governor three times in the last two years alone.
A few days ago, Erdogan fired the country’s Minister of Economy and introduced “Noureddine Nabati” as the new Minister of Economy.
Nabati, who has been named the current Minister of Economy and Treasury, is said to be a staunch supporter of interest rate cuts.
Economic analysts attribute Erdogan’s mismanagement to the country’s economic turmoil, saying: “Mismanagement and political uncertainties have pushed inflation to double digits and reduced foreign reserves to a minimum, while the Turkish lira has depreciated by four.” The year loses two-thirds of its value, which is the worst situation among emerging economies.
