According to the Middle East News, President Emmanuel Macron has appointed a foreign policy adviser as the country’s ambassador to Syria.
The ruling, which was published in the French official newspaper on December 2, did not provide further details on the transfer or non-transfer of Brigitte Cormey, France’s ambassador to Syria.
France severed ties with Syria in 2012 and closed its embassy in Damascus during the presidency of Nicolas Sarkozy.
The presidence of France announced at the time that the French embassy in Syria would not be reopened.
