According to details, in a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar said that the purpose of giving the award to Nandan is to divert the attention of the Indian people from the realities. Honoring an Indian pilot is tantamount to making fun of him.
Honoring an Indian pilot is also against military principles and values.
He said that Pakistan Air Force shot down two Indian planes in broad daylight on February 27, 2019, one of which was an Indian MiG-21 aircraft shot down in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The pilot of the destroyed Indian aircraft was captured by Pakistan. The release of the pilot, who was later released in good faith, proves that Pakistan wants peace in spite of Indian bigotry.
The Foreign Office spokesman said that Indian claims of downing F-16s were baseless and fabricated, adding that Indian claims of downing F-16s before the arrest of Indian pilots were false. After which international experts and US officials confirmed that no Pakistani F-16 plane crashed that day.
It may be recalled that Nandan, the pilot of an Indian airliner shot down by the Pakistan Air Force in 2019, has been awarded India’s third highest military honor despite his failure in the mission.
