Trump’s adviser charged of insulting Congress.
The US Department of Justice on Saturday morning accused the former US presidential adviser of insulting the US Congress.
According to Fars News Agency’s International Group, Steve Benn, a senior adviser to former US President Donald Trump, has been charged with insulting the US Congress.
The US Department of Justice said in a statement on Saturday morning that Steve Benn had been convicted by a federal jury of insulting Congress after a summons was ignored by the Congressional Inquiry Committee into the January 6 attack on Congress.
Benn, 67, faces two counts of insulting Congress, according to a Justice Department statement. The first is to refuse to appear before the US House of Representatives to investigate the January 6 attack last year, and the second is to refuse to provide evidence to that committee.
Former senior White House strategist Steve Bannon had ignored Trump’s summons to the US House of Representatives, and the House of Representatives decided to refer his case to the Department of Justice in a vote last month.
On January 6 (last year), the US Congress was counting the votes of the Electoral College to approve the results of the November 3 presidential election. To hold.
Trump supporters, however, attacked Congress in large numbers and, after clashing with security forces, made their way into the building and its various rooms. Five people, including a policeman, were killed during the attack.
The attack by Trump supporters on the US Capitol building marked his second congressional impeachment. However, Trump’s trial in the US Senate was opposed by Republicans and failed.
