The end of the US coalition presence in Iraq in upcoming months.
The Iraqi Joint Operations Command on Saturday confirmed the end of the US coalition’s combat presence by the end of this year, and announced that it would continue to work with the coalition in four areas after the end of its presence in Iraq.
The presence of foreign troops will end at the end of this year and only a small number of them remain,” said Maj. Gen. Tahseen al-Khafaji, spokesman for the Iraqi Army Joint Operations Command.
“Iraq has made great strides in ending the presence of international coalition troops, which will end by the end of December 31 this year,” al-Khafaji added.
“Cooperation with the international coalition in the fields of consulting, intelligence, training and weapons continues,” he stressed.
“The security forces are making every effort to pursue organized criminal gangs,” al-Khafaji said. “The trial of ISIL terrorist elements is underway.”
