The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) says tens of thousands of Yemeni children have been killed or injured since the Saudi-led Arab League intervened in the country.
“The Yemeni conflict has reached a new and embarrassing level,” UNICEF spokesman James Alder told a UN report in Geneva on Tuesday after returning from a visit to Yemen, according to Russia Today. We currently have 10,000 children who have been killed or injured since March 2015, which is equivalent to four children a day. In addition, many operations that have resulted in the killing or disability of children have not been recorded.
He added: “Out of every five children, four or a total of about 11 million people in Yemen need humanitarian assistance, while about 400,000 children are suffering from severe malnutrition and more than two million children have dropped out of school.”
