High level appointments and transfers have been made in the Pakistan Army and Director General (DG) Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed has been posted as Corps Commander Peshawar and Lieutenant General Nadeem Anjum has been posted as DG ISI.
According to a statement issued by ISPR, Lieutenant General Nadeem Anjum has been appointed as the new Director General (DG) of Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).
A statement issued regarding appointments and transfers in the Army said that Lieutenant General Muhammad Saeed has been posted as Corps Commander Karachi and Lieutenant General Noman Mahmood has been posted as President National Defense University.
According to ISPR, Major General Asim Malik has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General and posted as Adjutant General of Pakistan Army.
Earlier, the ISPR had said that besides appointing DG ISI Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed as Corps Commander Peshawar, Lieutenant General Muhammad Amir has been posted as Corps Commander Gujranwala and Lieutenant General Asim Munir has been posted as Quarter Master General.
The DG ISI is appointed at the discretion of the Prime Minister but the Prime Minister appoints the head of the intelligence agency in consultation with the Army Chief.
The new DG ISI Lieutenant General Nadeem Anjum was earlier posted as Corps Commander Karachi and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General in September 2019.
Lieutenant General Nadeem Anjum, who belongs to the 78th Long Course of the Punjab Regiment of the Pakistan Army and the Pakistan Military Academy, has also served as the Commandant of the Command and Staff College Quetta.
Lt. Gen. Nadeem Anjum has previously been the Inspector General of the Balochistan Frontier Corps (North) and served as a brigade commander in Hangu, Kurram Agency.
Lieutenant General Nadeem Anjum, a graduate of the Royal College of Defense Studies, UK, also holds a degree from the Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies, Honolulu.
It may be recalled that on June 16, 2019, important appointments and transfers of Lieutenant Generals were made in the Pakistan Army and Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed was appointed as the Director General of ISI.
He was appointed to the post in place of Lieutenant General Asim Munir. Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed was promoted to Lieutenant General in April 2019 along with four officers including Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad.
Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed was working as DG Counter Intelligence in ISI at the time of promotion. Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed, a member of Army’s Baloch Regiment, was appointed DG ISI when Malik There was an increase in internal and external security challenges.
His name first surfaced when he helped end a sit-in in Faizabad by a religious group in November 2017 through an agreement.
Corps Commander Gujranwala Lieutenant General Muhammad Amir was currently serving as Adjutant General, he has also served as General Officer Commanding Lahore.
Lieutenant General Asim Munir, who was posted as Quartermaster General, had earlier served as Corps Commander Gujranwala. He had served as Director General of ISI before General Faiz.
