ISLAMABAD – Pakistani media today reported the reopening of a joint border crossing with the Islamic Republic of Iran at the Taftan-Mirjavah checkpoint to facilitate the movement of traders and students.
Pakistani sources said on Monday that the Taftan-Mirjavah crossing was reopened yesterday after a three-month shutdown to control the corona outbreak, Pakistani sources said on Monday, quoting officials from the Immigration and Border Control Department.
The report said: “Pakistani businessmen, students and truck drivers are now allowed to enter Iran in accordance with health protocols and with travel documents, but the ban on pilgrims or tourists is still in place.
The Pakistan Immigration Control Agency (FIA) is also launching a regular immigration process at the Taftan border, allowing Pakistani citizens to enter Iran.
Pakistani media reported that due to the increase in the number of coronavirus cases, the entry of Pakistani citizens to Iran through the Taftan-Mirjavah border crossing was banned from (June 29). However, the bilateral and transit trade between Pakistan and Iran continued during this period. The entry of Pakistani nationals from Iran into Pakistan was not disrupted.
