The Sudanese defense minister said in a statement that Abdul Baqi al-Bakrawi, along with 22 other officers, had been responsible for the failed coup.
According to Mehr News Agency, quoting Al-Ahd, Sudanese Defense Minister Yassin Ibrahim Yassin announced that Abdul Baqi Al-Bakrawi was the perpetrator of the failed coup in the country and that he was in charge of it.
The Sudanese defense minister noted that Abdul Baqi al-Bakrawi, along with 22 officers of various ranks and a number of soldiers, were involved in the Sudanese coup.
Stating that the aim of the coup was to seize power and weaken the current system, he said: “Investigations into the recent coup in Sudan and its causes are ongoing.”
Yesterday, media sources reported a failed coup in Sudan. The news came after Sudanese state television abruptly stopped broadcasting live and announced that a failed coup had taken place in the country.
Sudanese authorities called on people to take to the streets to fight the coup.
