Pakistan began talks with the Taliban for an inclusive government.
Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan posted a message on his Twitter account announcing that Islamabad had begun talks with the Taliban to form an inclusive government in Afghanistan involving Tajiks, Hazaras and Uzbeks.
Imran Khan made the decision after meeting with leaders of Afghanistan’s neighbors, especially Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon, in Dushanbe.
In his message, the Pakistani Prime Minister stated that after 40 years of conflict, the inclusive government has helped to establish peace and stability in Afghanistan, and this is in the interest of both Kabul and the region.
Imran Khan wrote: “After talks in Dushanbe with leaders of Afghanistan’s neighbors and especially a long conversation with Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon, I have talked to the Taliban so that the Afghan government includes Tajiks, Hazaras and Uzbeks.”
