Saudi Arabia has denied any involvement in the 9/11 attacks.
The Saudi embassy in Washington has denied involvement in the 9/11 attacks, saying it was a vital US partner in the fight against terrorism.
The Saudi embassy in Washington this evening (Wednesday) called allegations of Saudi involvement in the 9/11 attacks “fake,” according to the International Group of News News.
The Saudi embassy said in a statement that it hoped the full disclosure of the documents would eliminate what it called “false allegations about Saudi Arabia” once and for all.
“Any attack on Saudi Arabia’s involvement in the 9/11 attacks is completely false,” the Riyadh embassy said.
The statement also said that Riyadh supported the full disclosure of US investigative documents on the attacks, saying that Saudi Arabia was “a vital US partner in the fight against terrorism.”
The statement came after US President Joe Biden issued an order last Friday to declassify 9/11 documents.
Biden’s order came after the families of 9/11 victims wrote a letter to the head of the US National Intelligence Agency asking for transparency in the results of the investigation into the attacks and the role of the Saudis.
Survivors and families of 9/11 victims have cited a recent report by Saudi officials on the murder of Saudi-American journalist Jamal Khashgechi at the Riyadh consulate in Istanbul, three years after the release of the report. The murder, while he (Khashkchi) is an American citizen, is in stark contrast to today and tomorrow in a case in which 3,000 Americans were killed and thousands more were injured.
In 9/11, when the Twin Towers of World Trade were targeted, 19 people were involved in the hijacking, 15 of whom were Saudi nationals. Despite this involvement, US governments have so far not pursued the case seriously because of their relationship with Riyadh and Saudi resources for Washington.
