History of the escape of Palestinian prisoners from the Zionist prison; A battle with nails and spoons.
A Palestinian website reviewed the history of prisoners who managed to escape from the Zionist regime’s prison, and reported that the Palestinian prisoner knew for sure that his most powerful tool for digging a tunnel was his spoon and nails.
According to the International News Group, yesterday (Monday, September 6), six Palestinian prisoners managed to escape from the super-security prison “Jalboo” in the occupied north of Palestine.
However, they were not the first of their kind, and before that, other Palestinian prisoners managed to escape from the Zionist regime’s prisons, even after escaping, to continue their resistance against the Zionist regime, and some of them were martyred.
Escape from Shatta Prison.
According to Ultra Palestine, the first escape operation for Palestinian prisoners dates back to 1958, when 190 Palestinian prisoners and a Zionist prison guard clashed in Shatta Prison (occupied northern Palestine); Eleven Palestinian prisoners of war were martyred and 77 others escaped from the prison. Two Israeli soldiers were also killed.
Hamzeh Younes with a history of three escapes.
Captive Hamzeh Younes from the village of Ara, south of Haifa, escaped from the Zionist prison three times. He first escaped from Asqalan prison in 1964 with two other prisoners and reached Gaza.
Hamza joined the resistance in Gaza and took part in the 1967 war. He was wounded and arrested, but escaped from prison again and went to Beirut.
He was arrested for the third time in 1971 for trying to infiltrate occupied Palestine by sea and sentenced to life in prison in Ramallah. But there, too, he escaped through the prison window and reached Lebanon.
Escape two captives from Salvad
Mahmoud Abdullah Hamad was taken prisoner from Salvad in 1969 while being transferred from one prison to another. He was wanted for nine months before being transferred to Jordan. Another captive is Salvad Nasser Issa Hamed, who escaped in 1983 but was eventually forced to surrender.
Escape from Nafha prison.
Three Palestinian prisoners, Massoud al-Ra’i, Shawqi Abu Nusira, and Kamal Abdul Nabi, escaped from Nafha prison in 1987 but were re-arrested while trying to cross into Egypt.
Omar Nayef captured.
Palestinian prisoner Omar Nayef escaped in 1990 while being transferred to Bethlehem Hospital. He went to Jordan and then to Bulgaria and was assassinated in 2016 inside the Palestinian embassy.
Escape from Kafruna prison
In 1996, two Palestinian prisoners, Ghassan Mahdavi and Tawfiq al-Zaban, escaped from the 11-meter-long tunnel at Kafruna Prison, the first escape operation by digging a tunnel. They were arrested again in 2000.
Escape from Ofer Prison
Three Palestinian prisoners, Riyad Khalifa, Amjad Dick and Khalid Shanaiteh, escaped from Ofer Prison in 2003 by digging a tunnel. Seven months after the Zionist army killed the caliph in an armed conflict, Dick was re-arrested and Sennacherib was assassinated in 2006.
Ways to escape from prison “The Zionist regime’s racist policies against the Palestinian prisoners have made them cling to every branch of the land to gain their lost freedom,” the Asdaa website wrote. When a Palestinian prisoner thinks of escaping from prison, he knows for sure that his strongest tools are to dig a tunnel with his spoon and nails.
According to the report, sometimes the prisoners cut the barbed wire of the prison and managed to escape. In some cases, they have chosen the plural of these cases.
The website added that prisoners sometimes took advantage of the riots in the prison due to construction, etc., and took off their workers’ clothes.
