The Democratic governor of New York State announced on Tuesday that he will resign in the next 14 days due to the Attorney General’s report on sexual harassment charges against 11 women.
New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Como announced his resignation on Tuesday on charges of sexually harassing 11 women.
Como resigned after New York Attorney General Letitia James said in a report that he had sexually assaulted 11 women, including those who worked in his office, in violation of state and federal law.
But today at a news conference, Como’s lawyer, Rita Galvin, denied all allegations against her client in the report, questioning the credibility of the investigation into the women.
But Como spoke after him and told a news conference that he would resign in the next 14 days.
According to the report of the Attorney General of New York, the governor of the state, Andrew Como, who has been in this position since 2011, has sexually assaulted and broken 11 women in various ways.
According to Reuters, the five-month investigation into allegations of sexual harassment by the New York governor showed that Como had created a “poisonous” work environment for his staff and that his office officials were illegally publicizing the first person to make the allegations. Kurds have taken retaliatory action.
Last week, following the publication of this 168-page detailed report, US President Joe Biden and a number of prominent Democratic figures called on Andrew Como to resign as governor of New York.
“I think he should resign,” Biden told a White House news conference in response to a question. I’m sure, of course, that some of those things were completely pure and innocent. “However, the Attorney General has clearly decided that things were done that were not [clean].”
“There are serious and credible allegations, and women who step forward must be respected,” said Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the US House of Representatives. “Let ‘s see that the investigation goes in favor of women and their claims are heard.”
Six people have previously been accused of sexually harassing Como, and former New York magazine reporter Jessica Beckman has accused her of sexual harassment, becoming the seventh woman to speak out against the New York governor.
