The first joint naval exercise between the Saudi and Indian navies began on Tuesday, according to Al-Khaleej Al-Jadeed.
The official Saudi news agency quoted Admiral Majid al-Qahtani, commander of the Saudi Eastern Fleet, as saying that the exercise was called “Indian Ocean” and was aimed at boosting co-operation and exchanging experience between the two countries’ forces.
The exercise is also aimed at increasing military cooperation in the field of naval operations, exchange of experiences, integration of procedures and concepts of joint military operations, and control and communication instructions.
Recently, military exercises between Arab and Arab countries with the West have increased in the region, and on August 2, planning for a Saudi-US missile air defense exercise aimed at maintaining regional security and stability began in the Saudi capital.
According to the official Saudi news agency, the exercise will be held with the aim of establishing security and stability in the region by simulating possible air threats.
